We're installing a secondary water pipeline to provide non-drinkable water for landscaping

(This will help assure there is plenty of drinking water for you and other Patterson residents.)

The City of Patterson is in the process of installing a separate system of pipelines to carry non-drinkable water to targeted areas of the city. This water will be used for landscaping and other non-drinkable uses.

This strategy allows the City to access water supplies that are not up to drinking water standards and save money by not using treated water for landscape watering purposes.

Construction crews and equipment will be on American Eagle Avenue or No. 6th Street during the next 2 to 3 months. You should expect some traffic delays, noise, and other minor inconveniences.

The benefits to you

The City depends on a limited supply of water found beneath the ground. Some is safe for drinking. Some is not.

At the same time, a large portion of the water used in the City is for landscaping at parks, schools, and businesses. This provides beautiful surroundings and recreational opportunities.

By using a separate water system that delivers non-drinkable water for park, school, and commercial landscaping, more drinkable water becomes available for Patterson residents.

This new system will:

  • Make more drinkable water available for residents.

  • Keep water affordable since water used for landscaping doesn't need to be treated.

  • Ensure water is available for landscaping and parks.
