Historic Well #1 Upgrade
Elk Grove, California

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why is this project being done?

Historic Well #1 is being replaced to ensure that water will remain healthy and reliable for years to come. It will be housed in a specially designed building to keep it secure and to virtually eliminate any unwanted noise from disturbing the neighborhood.

This upgraded well site will provide a valuable fresh source for our new water treatment facility. It will help assure that there will be water when we need it.

Where is this construction being done?

The construction site is located along the Locust St. / Elk Grove Boulevard Alley just under the water tower in Old Town, Elk Grove. For a map of the pipeline route, click here.

Is the Old Water Tower involved?

No. The Old Water Tower is along side Well #1, but is not involved with this project. The water tower is owned by a private individual, and has never been owned by the Elk Grove Water Service.

When will construction take place?

Construction crews will begin in June 2008 with a target completion of the end of late Spring 2009.
