Final Phases of New Pipeline Construction
Elk Grove, California

Project Overview:

There are some improvements coming to your neighborhood!

By the end of 2008, you'll have both improved water pressure and water with better color and taste.

In 2003, Elk Grove Water Service began a program to improve water color, odor, and pressure. Although the water we provide has always met state and federal quality and health standards, naturally occurring minerals in the water can stain laundry and plumbing fixtures, and sometimes create odors.

Phase One was the building of our Railroad Water Treatment Facility. This is a state-of-the-art facility that meets or exceeds all state and federal water standards. The Railroad Water Treatment Facility came on line in late summer and officially opened in October 2005.

The new pipeline will bring it all to you

Phase Two of the program is to connect this improved water source to Elk Grove Water Service customers.

To achieve this goal, we need to install four new pipelines in the Old Town. Once completed, customers in the project area will begin to receive the improved water. You can expect your water pressure to improve as well. This will also improve the fire protection possible in this historic section of town.

From Fall 2007 through the end of 2008, sections of the street along the route will be under construction. While we are doing everything possible to minimize any inconvenience, there will be some disruptions.

At times, there may be added noise or delayed traffic. Some properties will have the new pipeline installed along their sidewalks. This may inhibit access to your driveway for brief periods of time.

Our goal is to minimize any inconvenience and to restore everything to original condition.

Streets affected

A pipeline will be installed along Elk Grove Florin Road between Elk Grove Boulevard and Highway 99. A second section will be installed on Elk Grove Boulevard between Elk Grove Florin Road and Elk Ridge Way. A third section will travel from 2nd Ave, to High Street and then up Polhemus Dr to the park. The final segment travels South along the railroad tracks and will not affect any homes. The Board and staff of Elk Grove Water Service thank you for your cooperation and patience. We're sure you'll enjoy the improved water quality this project brings.
