Elk Grove Boulevard New Pipeline Construction
Elk Grove, California
Current Status:

April 2007 - The construction and testing of the pipeline has been completed on schedule and as promised to the merchants in the area. This clears the way for the City of Elk Grove to resurface the boulevard. (The schedule for constructing this pipeline was accelerated by two years to accommodate the city's program for street resurfacing.)

End of January 2007 - The main section of the pipeline has now been put in place along the boulevard. Lateral connections are now being made at the major intersection points. (Derr St, Kent St, Webb St, and Porta Rosa Dr.) Once these are in place, the pipeline will be pressure tested to confirm that all sections are functioning correctly.

Start of January 2007 - Construction is heading West along Elk Grove Boulevard. A key factor during this period will be weather. If conditions become unsafe due to weather conditions, construction will be halted temporarily. By using a strategy of digging, laying pipe and back filling as they go, the crews should keep the construction area down to a minimum. This reduces the impact on the neighborhood and two way traffic can be maintained.

December 2006 - Construction crews under the direction of Elk Grove Water Service will begin construction of the remainder of the pipeline. Two way traffic will be maintained during this period to assure there are no stops in the flow of traffic into the Old Town area.

August 2006 - An initial segment of the pipeline was started at the Waterman end of the project. This was completed and is awaiting additional construction crews to continue the project through to completion.

Planning Stages - This pipeline will help upgrade water service in the Old Downtown area of Elk Grove. Benefits include delivery of higher quality water as well as increased water pressures and thus increased fire protection to the area.

This project is planned to begin in Fall '06 and complete in Spring of '07.

Meeting are currently being held to plan for schedules that will minimize the impact on downtown merchants during the upcoming Holiday Season.
